Reverting commit:efa4c120 did not help.

Terri, can you have the qa machiens loop through just the bonnie++ command he's having problems with? Something like
while bonnie++ -s 40 -r 10 -u root -f ; do true ; done
so that it breaks out if/when it hits an error.

bonnie tests are running under ceph 5, 6, 8, and 9, logging to /data/qa/ on each machine.
